HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actor Steve Landesberg, who starred on the popular television sitcom Barney Miller, has died. He was 65.
Landesberg passed away Friday after a long battle with cancer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"It is with great sadness to report the loss of my friend and client Steve Landesberg," his agent Jeffrey Leavitt said in a statement. "Working with Steve was an honor both personally and professionally. My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed."
Born in New York City, Landesberg portrayed Detective Sgt. Arthur Dietrich on Barney Miller from 1975-82. He also appeared in such TV shows as Seinfeld, The Golden Girls, Cosby, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Everybody Hates Chris and Head Case.
Landesberg most recently appeared on the big screen in 2009’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
