HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ricky Martin is open to adding to his family after welcoming twins through a surrogate.
"Even though I started with surrogacy, adoption is probably my next step," the 38-year-old Latin star tells Extra.
Martin was speaking after he and other stars like Katy Perry performed on A Home for the Holidays, a CBS special airing Wednesday that raises awareness about adoption.
"I had to be here as a father… 20,000 children have been beautifully impacted by this project," he said. "Adoption is beautiful. Give it a try!"
The singer also revealed his main wish for the holiday season. "I just want my children to be happy," he said. "I want my children to be healthy."
Earlier this year, Martin came out as a gay man via a message on his Web site. He told Oprah Winfrey the decision to reveal his sexuality came about thanks to his 2-year-old twin sons, Valentino and Matteo.
"What am I gonna teach them, how to lie?" he told Winfrey last month. "Before I decided to become a father, I already accepted who I was and I was happy with who I was. Then, when I was holding my children, I said, okay, it’s time to tell the world."
