HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actress Meg Ryan and rocker John Mellencamp have sparked dating rumors after multiple sightings together.
The two have been spotted spending time with each other on Martha’s Vineyard and in New York, just after Mellencamp announced he had separated from wife Elaine Irwin after 18 years of marriage.
A source tells People magazine that Ryan and Mellencamp have been dating for about seven weeks, insisting the singer and his wife had separated well before the romance began.
One observer recently witnessed the new couple doing some grocery shopping together at Gourmet Garage in New York’s SoHo neighborhood.
"She usually comes in by herself or with her daughter. I thought that was her husband because they seemed for comfortable and familiar with each other, just like an old married couple," the eyewitness told the mag.
Ryan, 49, has an 18-year-old son, Jack Henry, with ex-husband Dennis Quaid. She also has a 6-year-old daughter, Daisy True, whom she adopted from China.
Mellencamp, 59, has been married three times. He has five children, including two sons with Elaine, a former supermodel that he met when she posed for the cover of his 1991 album Whenever We Wanted.
