HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — True Grit blasted the competition with $15 million in ticket sales to win the weekend box office, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
In its third weekend, the Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon film became the first Western to top the $100 million mark since the 1990s.
Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller’s Little Fockers slipped to second place at $13.8 million after winning the box office the previous two weekends.
Nicolas Cage’s supernatural thriller Season of the Witch premiered at No. 3 with $10.7 million, followed by Disney’s sci-fi reboot Tron: Legacy in fourth place at $9.8 million.
The ballet thriller Black Swan came in fifth place at $8.4 million.
