HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The Facebook film The Social Network took home the top prize, winning best picture at the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held Friday night in Hollywood.
Top acting honors at the Hollywood Palladium ceremony went to Colin Firth for The King’s Speech and Natalie Portman for Black Swan.
Christian Bale was named best supporting actor for his role in The Fighter and his co-star in the boxing flick, Melissa Leo, was named best supporting actress.
Also emerging victorious was 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld, who won best young actor/actress for her role in the Coen brothers’ western True Grit.
The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards are bestowed annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Nominees for 2010 film releases were selected by written ballots in a week-long voting period.
