Clearly, Melissa McCarthy is one of the hottest stars in Hollywood at the moment, with a few hit movies under her belt and another on the way, her own clothing line and big-deal magazine covers profiling her major career. But she needed something else to prove she’d truly “made it” — and that something was a noteworthy hair moment (all the cool celebs are doing it!). That moment has arrived.

McCarthy kicked off her Tammy promotional tour at SiriusXm Tuesday with a new, rocker-esque look: piecey, wispy bangs and tousled hair to go with her skull scarf and gold-print jacket. She also appeared to have cut a few more layers into her brunette mane for an updated cut.

And since debuting the new do, she’s also shown a few different ways to style her new fringe: straight across and sleek for The Late Show With David Letterman and combed and brushed to the side for an appearance on Good Morning America.
