NEW YORK – Two of Malcolm X’s daughters are unhappy that a new biography alleges their parents’ marriage was strained and that their mother was unfaithful.
Ilyasah and Malaak Shabazz spoke to The Associated Press on Wednesday about "A Life of Reinvention: Malcolm X." The book by historian Manning Marable was years in the making. He died last week just as the book was about to be published.
While both sisters acknowledged they have yet to read the book, they questioned some of the reports about the book’s findings.
They also dismissed outright the biography’s assertion that Betty Shabazz had an affair with another man out of loneliness.
Malaak said of the book: "I’m not giving it any credence."
