Under terms of the deal, the "Grenade" singer must pay a $2,000 fine, perform 200 hours of community service and complete drug counseling. Should he meet the conditions and stay out of trouble for a year, prosecutors won’t charge him for felony cocaine possession.

"Bruno is very appreciative he is being given this opportunity as a first offender not to suffer any conviction and instead to have his charge dismissed," the singer’s attorney, Blair Berk, told the Associated Press. "He is taking all of this quite seriously."

Mars was arrested on Sept. 19, 2010 after security at the Hard Rock Hotel confronted him in a bathroom and allegedly found him holding 2.6 grams of coke.

The 25-year-old star, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, received seven nominations for the upcoming Grammy Awards, including best male pop vocal for his breakout hit, "Just the Way You Are."
