See the Most Popular Patriotic Dress in Hollywood (Hint: It’s Been Worn by Meryl Streep and Wendy Williams)

Catherine Malandrino’s American flag shirtdress is almost as much of a classic as Old Glory itself. Every year a new star steps out in the design, putting her own twist on the red-white-and-blue number. The frock seems to appeal to all age demographics, can be worn belted and is an easy way to show your patriotic side this Fourth of July. Unfortunately, it’s sold out pretty much everywhere. Since we can’t nab our own, let’s look back at the celebs who have the iconic frock hanging in their closets instead.

Halle Berry was the first to wear the design, choosing a sleeveless version for her Swordfish promo tour in 2001. Meryl Streep hit the carpet for Doubt in 2009 in her stars and stripes, and in 2012, Tatyana Ali wore it to the BET Upfronts.

More recently, Katy Perry and John Mayer coordinated their patriotic looks last Fourth of July (see photo below). And this year, two stars stepped out in the dress: Wendy Williams wore it to film an episode in May, while Miss USA fittingly displayed her patriotic pride while touring her crown back in June.
