Mark Ballas is all for having Julianne Hough as the fourth judge on Dancing with the Stars.
The talented dancer was at the the OK! TV Pre-Awards party in Los Angeles on Thursday night and he talked to us about Julianne joining the judges’ table next season. Mark also dished on his friendship with Derek Hough, and talked about his music! Check out the interview below to find out when you can purchase Mark’s EP!
It was announced this week that Julianne is coming back to DWTS as a judge. So, as a professional dancer on the show, how does Mark feel about having the dancer-turned-actress on the judges’ panel? Mark told us, “I feel great. It’s good to have another judge that specializes in this genre. Not all of the judges are professional ballroom dancers, so it’s cool to have someone that understands it, that’s lived it, that’s done it. It should be fun, and she’s very blunt and honest so it’s going to make good TV.” Julianne did cause some controversy as a guest judge in past episodes, so it looks like the show wants more of that next season!
Mark, Julianne, and Derek actually grew up dancing together, so there’s a lot of history with these three. Mark and Derek are still great friends to this day and both will be back as pro dancers on the next DWTS season. When we asked him what it was like for him and Derek to become so successful at the same time, Mark said, “It’s kind of crazy because I don’t think either of us assumed we would be in this amazing position. But, we’re the same, we’re the exact same as we were before, just older now.”
When he’s not tearing it up on the dance floor, Mark’s making music! His new single “Miss Incredible” is out now on iTunes and he told us his EP “Kicking Clouds” will make its debut on Sept. 16!
So now that he’s a dancer and singer, would he ever want to become a triple threat and get into acting? Maybe star in some movies? Mark told us, “Oh yeah, I would love to! I grew up doing theater, that’s where I started. When I started out in entertainment, I didn’t really want to be a dancer, I wanted to be an entertainer. I started playing guitar one day, started dancing, and then doing theater. So yeah, at some point if the opportunity presents itself I’d be totally down.” We think he’ll be successful in anything the does!
With the next season of Dancing with the Stars coming up, which celebrity would you like to see Mark dance with? Sound off in the comments!
