Crop tops have been the trend of 2014 (sorry, overalls) and we’re starting to notice that stars are gravitating towards one version of the style more than any other. Fitted, belly-baring tops paired with perfectly-matched circle skirts have been seen on everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Suki Waterhouse to Taylor Swift (it’s her favorite look right now) and we’re checking out three styles that we saw within the past 24 hours, from sweet to spicy, to evaluate.

From left, Katharine McPhee tries the trend in Tbagslosangeles, pairing a black-trim floral print top with its matching fit-and-flare mini and adding black sandals. Her new bangs and a pink lip keep the look feminine and fresh. Taylor Swift (center) ups the ante a bit in a saucy pleated Alice + Olivia set, which she offsets with neon accessories and an undone do. And finally, Megan Fox turns the heat all the way up in her David Koma two-piece, which has a similar shape as the other two, but with a tighter fit and higher hemline for maximum impact. Her signature smoky eye/bright lip combo completed the look.
It’s definitely the most foolproof way to wear the look, and since an A-line skirt is a flattering silhouette on most, it’s a good place to start if you’re hesitant about trying this year’s hottest trend. Will you give this look a shot? Whose is your favorite?
