Buck Johnston and Camp Bosworth never planned to move to Marfa. And they never imagined that once they did, they’d end up owning a shop together. They didn’t come into it with any preconceived notions of what a shop should be–she’s a graphic designer, he’s an artist-and as a result, the Wrong Store (110 West Dallas Street) is pleasantly off-kilter in its conception and a pure joy to experience. The shop features locally sourced inventory organized around Camp’s irreverent carved wooden pieces, all of it showcased in the soaring nave of a former church that’s painted white from floor to ceiling, a single dramatic table running the length of the room. The couple’s pet coyote keeps watch over the whole operation, as does a bonkers golden security camera, made, of course, by Camp.
Buck and Camp talk about their shop, Marfa and each other over on Strolby.
