What will Christian Bale look like when he puts on the iconic Steve Jobs black turtleneck? (Here’s a rough idea).
Days after it was reported that the Batman actor was in “negotiations” to play the late Apple co-founder, Aaron Sorkin has finally confirmed the hiring: indeed, Bale will play Jobs and guess what, the guy didn’t even have to audition for the role.
“Well, there was a meeting,” Sorkin tells Bloomberg News. “The role is an extremely difficult role. He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined.”
Sorkin, who will write the screenplay based on Walter Isaacson’s 2011 bestselling biography, also says that the picture will be 100 percent Bale.
“There isn’t a scene or a frame that he’s not in, and there’s a tremendous amount of launge,” according to Sorkin. “It’s an extremely difficult part and he’s going to crush it.”
Bale’s hire comes weeks after Leonardo DiCaprio bowed out of the Sony project, which is the second feature film based on Jobs’ life and career. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper were also reportedly in the running to take the role.
The film, which has yet to receive a title, will be directed by Danny Boyle.
