If the job is making fashion more wearable, Tibi‘s Amy Smilovic is clearly up to the task for Spring ’15. Fashion girls who already favor the line’s flatforms and full skirts will find plenty here. For girls craving something more dressed up, look to the lineup of breezy, one-shoulder dresses, crafted in cotton poplin and delivered in the essential Spring white and shades of blue. But Tibi doesn’t get much more dressed up than that – and that’s just fine by us. It’s not the glitz and glamour we love, but the ease, the careful proportions, and the subtle sex appeal that comes from an off-the-shoulder top, a hint of skin peeking out from a boxy crop top, or pair of lace-up, albeit flat, sandals.
In total, there aren’t too many surprises; Smilovic is evolving what were once novelties into modern staples – the stylish sweatshirt, the crop top, culottes, and pool sides, now finished with layers of chunky fringe. Even the hat is becoming something of a staple in her collections, this time with a taller peek and a wide, fringed brim. As always, the real wow factor is subtle and cool, just like the girls who wear it.
