Below, Phan shares her tips for red carpet-ready makeup. (If you have a big event on the horizon, you might want to bookmark this article.)

Always prime your face.
“Primer is key whenever you want your make up to last throughout the night, even into the early morning. Find a silicone based primer, because this will smooth out any fine lines, cover up any pores, and make your makeup stick to the skin better. And the best part, it feels like you’re not wearing anything at all. Naked-feeling skin is the best accessory.”

Skip the lash strip.
“Use individual or demi-lashes instead of the heavy full lashes. Your eyes will look bigger with a more natural finish, unlike traditional fake lashes that can feel like they’re weighing you down.”

Aim for melt-proof makeup.
“Instead of using a full face of foundation, which can sometimes slip and slide on the face, use concealer (I love my em Michelle Phan Shade Play Color Mixing Concealer Palette) and spot treat any blemishes (like redness around the nose, dark circles, broken capillaries, etc.) Afterward, lightly apply face powder with a medium coverage that matches your skin tone. Your face will look flawless without that cake face feeling.”

Go glossy.
“Instead of lipstick, stick with a lipgloss. It may not last as long as a lipstick, but unlike most lipsticks, which can feather after four hours, lipgloss will keep your lips looking hydrated and sexy. LA is still in a drought, but that doesn’t mean your lips should look like they are. I love my em Michelle Phan Pillow Plush Cushiony Lip Balm spf20.”

Hairspray is your best friend.
“Before heading out the door, check for any flyaway’s around the crown of your head because they will show up on pictures (especially on the red carpet.) A favorite trick of mine is to spray a little bit of hairspray on your finger tips and lightly pat it on the crown wherever the flyaway’s are, blending them into the rest of your hair.
If you want big va-va-voom volume for the hair, flip your hair over and with a dry shampoo spray, spray it on the hair near the nape of the neck and really get the product into the roots. I really like Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo. Keep your hair flipped over while you’re doing this, as if you are giving yourself a head massage. Then flip your hair back over, look in the mirror, and bam! “Big hair don’t care” moment. If you want some curl, I love using the Enzo Milano Clipless Curling Iron to create curls and set my hair. This tool is perfect for traveling (which I do a lot!) and home use.”

Aside from makeup MO, Phan also shed some on her dress for the big night. How did she decided? By this style mantra: “It’s like dating. Whatever feels right. Like dating someone special, the dress has to make me feel confident and beautiful.”

Phan adds, that she’s going for a “glamorously cute” look for the event, and loves the vibe of the two dresses by Three Floor she’s wearing in the photo above.

“They give each of their pieces cute, cheeky names,” she adds. “The one I am wearing is called the ‘Desire Dress’ and the one I am holding is named the ‘Pleats and Thank You’dress.”

To see Phan’s big red carpet moment, tune in to the Streamys tonight at 10:30 p.m. (7:30PT) at Streamys.org. (And get a peek inside the beauty maven’s travel makeup bag below!) What do you think of her tips? Do you subscribe to her YouTube channel? Sound off below.
