Kaley Cuoco has a few things to say since declaring that she’s not a feminist.
The Big Bang Theory actress, who was recently quoted by Redbook magazine as saying she’s not a “feminist girl demanding equality” because she’s “never really faced inequality” before, has taken to her personal Instagram to clarify her controversial comments. She writes:
In my Redbook article, some people have taken offense to my comments regarding feminism – if any of you are In the “biz” you are well aware of how words can be taken out of context. I’m completely blessed and grateful that strong women have paved the way for my success along with many others. I apologize if anyone was offended. Anyone that truly knows me, knows my heart and knows what I meant.
At the time when the quotes were published, many criticized Cuoco for ignoring the the struggle past feminists face to allow a woman such as herself the freedom and opportunity to work — and earn as much as her male The Big Bang Theory co-stars with a one million per episode contract — and be a doting housewife at the same time.
When the interviewer asked Cuoco if she considers herself a feminist in the article, the 29-year-old replied, “Is it bad if I say no?”
“It’s not really something I think about,” she added. ”Things are different now, and I know a lot of the work that paved the way for women happened before I was around.”
“I cook for Ryan five nights a week: It makes me feel like a housewife; I love that,” she explained. “I know it sounds old-fashioned, but I like the idea of women taking care of their men. I’m so in control of my work that I like coming home and serving him.”
