The newly engaged Benedict Cumberbatch (and daddy-to-be!) appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show (airing Wednesday, Jan. 14) for the first time where he considered some very cute, very Cumber-worthy baby names.
He and Ellen also discussed his incredibly dedicated fan base, who refer to themselves as the Cumberbitches – something that makes Benedict “squirm” about, perhaps considering it a bit of a feminist issue (as flattering as it is)…
His self-named fans insisted to him though, “We didn’t mean any harm to feminism, we’re just having a little bit of fun with your name!”
As far as really great Cumberbaby names, Ellen proposes “Engelberg”, “Harpsichord”, “Glockenspiel”, or a more minimalist choice, “Carl”.
The 38-year-old actor’s engagement to Sophie Hunter was announced in November 2014, and news broke that they were expecting their first child together in January 2015.
Watch the video above to see Benedict’s entire interview, including a funny scene from last year’s Oscars in which Ellen dressed in a “Glinda the good witch” fairy costume crosses paths with an extremely suave (and tipsy) Benedict backstage – who let it be known, calls Ellen “amazing”.
