Mystery solved: there’s finally proof that Taylor Swift has a belly button!
Taylor’s currently on vacay in Maui, Hawaii with the girls from Haim (Estes, Danielle and Alana), and thankfully one of the bikini snaps she posted to her Instagram has her elusive belly button front and center.
The questions surrounding Taylor’s mysterious belly button have become as pressing as questions of who she’s dating. Her fashion game has gotten exponentially cooler, obviously meaning she’d been rocking a variety of statement making crop tops paired with high waisted skirts or shorts.
But no matter what she wore, Taylor’s belly button, much like the unicorn or Bigfoot, has always been explicitly kept out of sight from public eye. Many started speculating that Taylor didn’t even have a belly button.
However, the notion that Taylor doesn’t have a belly button at all is so completely ridiculous (everyone has a belly button!) that she had to confront the rumors head on and make a statement about it.
She told Lucky Magazine in November 2014,
I don’t like showing my belly button. When you start showing your belly button then you’re really committing to the midriff thing. I only partially commit to the midriff thing—you’re only seeing lower rib cage. I don’t want people to know if I have one or not.” She laughs. “I want that to be a mystery. As far as anyone knows based on my public appearances, they haven’t seen evidence of a belly button. It could be pierced. They have no idea. If I’m going to get some sort of massive tattoo, it’s going to be right next to my belly button because no one’s ever going to see that.
Alas, Taylor’s posted a pic of her wearing a belly button-revealing bikini!
She also poked fun at herself, posting this pic of her in a “1950′s” bathing suit.
