Is Daniel Craig unequaled when it comes to being Bond?
If you ask Roger Moore—the British actor who played James Bond in seven consecutive films from 1973-1985—the answer is an unequivocal yes!
The 84-year-old actor, who happens to be the longest-serving James Bond actor ever (he played Bond for 12 consecutive years), says fellow Brit Craig is the best actor ever to play Bond.
In his new book, Bond On Bond, Moore writes, “I loved Casino Royale and Daniel Craig. He is a wonderful actor, certainly the best actor to play Bond.”
Moore adds that 42-year-old Craig also has “the best build of any Bond” (we’re not going to argue with that).
However, Moore doesn’t think the new Bond movies are perfect. In fact, if it were up to him, they’d strike a better balance between action and humor–something he enjoyed about the Bond films of the ’70s.
“I believe that Skyfall [due out later this year] is going to have a lot more humor in it than Quantum of Solace did, something I’ll be pleased to see,” said the veteran actor.
Moore also remembers how easy on the eyes he was during his years as Bond. “With a twitch of the old eyebrow, I set pulses racing across the world, they say,” he says. “These days, it’s my pacemaker that keeps my pulse racing.”
