The countdown to the release of One Direction’s sophomore album Take Me Home has just begun, but now the boys have something else to celebrate. They have officially won the right to keep their name.
Back in April, another One Direction — an American group fronted by Sean O’Leary – filed a suit against the British boy band, Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Entertainment, and Sony Music for $1 million. The band claimed that the British One Direction caused consumer confusion and harmed the U.S. group’s reputation.
Now, the two One Directions have reached an agreement.
What does this mean for the American One Direction?
The California-based band will change its name to Uncharted Shores, and according to The Daily Mail, both parties are pleased with the resolution.
The alleged confusion even caused an increase in iTunes sales – and YouTube views – for the little-known American band and their single “2012.”
Meanwhile, the British One Direction are gearing up for the release of Take Me Home, the anticipated follow-up to 2011′s smash hit Up All Night. They will release their new single, “Live While We’re Young,” on Oct. 1. Columbia records describes the track as an “energy packed song, mixing rock undertones with smooth harmonies, about living for the moment.”
As for the video, the boys were snapped on the set of their wet and wild music video making a splash. The bizarre party setup included a pool, trampoline, tepee, hay barrels, an inflatable microphone, and a giant inflatable banana.
The boys — Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan – also have a comic book in the works. Fame: One Direction will profile the journey of the bandmates thus far, starting with when Cowell first put them together on X Factor.
Take Me Home is slated to be released on Nov. 13, 2012. The new record is currently available for pre-order.
