What is it: Amia’s Almighty Cincher
Who tried it: Alissa Harris, Photo Editor
Why I did it: I just had a baby and figured it was the perfect time to jump on the waist-training bandwagon (Okay, Jessica Alba and Kim Kardashian convinced me too)
Level of difficulty: 5. I didn’t love putting the corset on (it’s pretty uncomfortable, especially when a 10-month-old is always hanging off our hip), but the results are worth it

I have to admit that I was intrigued after hearing that Jessica Alba wore not one — but 2 (!) — corsets day and night for three months to get her post-baby body back. Then after seeing this image on Instagram of Kim Kardashian wearing a similar corset while working out, I knew it was time to hop on the bandwagon. Being a few months post-partum myself, I was definitely having a hard time getting my midsection back in shape. I decided to order the Almighty Cincher by AMIA, a product that claims to instantly reduce your waistline by 1 to 4 inches and at this point I need all the help I can get.

When the rubber corset first arrived, I was a little intimidated. I decided to try it out one morning while getting ready for work. It took a little bit of trial and error to get it on (the first time took me about 10 minutes, ask my husband), but once it was on the results were instant. I suddenly had the confidence to wear a skirt that I had been afraid to try on since my son was born. One thing I definitely noticed was that it really forces you to stand up straight and focus on good posture. It also smooths out everything under your clothes, a huge plus post baby. The downside? It makes you sweat A LOT. I assume this means the “cincher” is doing its job since according to Amia, the “increased thermal activity in your core” is what is responsible for sculpting inches from your midsection.
The Verdict: After wearing the corset to work everyday for a week, I can’t say that I’ve permanently lost 1 to 4 inches off my waistline. What I can say is that I absolutely love the way this product flattens my stomach and smooths by waistline. And now that its in my drawer, I’m not intimidated to wear some of my favorite pre-pregnancy dresses. It will definitely be my secret weapon for the holiday cocktail party circuit.
