Emma Roberts Reveals Why She Loves Taking Off Her Makeup

When actress Emma Roberts isn’t making waves on FX’s “American Horror Story,” she’s probably pages-deep in her latest book obsession. If anything, you’ve probably seen her latest red carpet wins and her FOMO-worthy Instagram account.

We got the chance to catch up with the Neutrogena Brand Ambassador in New York City, where we talked all things beauty. And while Roberts loves the “idea of a strong brow, great lashes and a red lip,” she delved into a topic that’s been making its rounds in Hollywood lately: no makeup.

Growing up in the limelight, Roberts feels more comfortable in her own, natural skin. “I think I appreciate wearing no makeup than other people, because I have to wear it for work,” she begins, adding, “I really feel like myself and confident without makeup on.”

Roberts applies her no-makeup philosophy to other women, saying that the confidence she harbors from wiping off her mascara and foundation is “something that” she “thinks all girls should feel.” She attributes her thoughts to younger girls as well, highlighting her younger sister as a prime example. Roberts concludes “I just think it’s important to know that you look beautiful without makeup on,” adding that experimentation is great, too.

So, the next time you need an ego boost, it might come down to getting your makeup remover… or that untouched tube of lipstick.

Catch Emma Roberts on “American Horror Story,” which airs Wednesdays, 10 PM EST on FX.
