Anyone who’s ever watched The Mindy Project (or even just casually follows Mindy Kaling on Instagram) knows that the show has seen some pretty great costumes. The mixed prints, bright colors, and flattering designs are enough to make any fashion girl swoon, and all of it happens to be the work of one very talented man: Salvador Perez.
The costume designer, who’s worked on the show since season one (in between doing his thing for feature films like Pitch Perfect 2), clearly knows a thing or two about fashion. So we tapped him for some answers to our most pressing clothing-related questions, like “How does one mix prints?” or “If we’re addicted to wearing black, how can we work some color into our wardrobe?” His answers might surprise you.
