ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy is known for having epic season premieres and finales so it’s no surprise that we are still reeling from last season’s plane crash and dying to find out what will happen next.
With Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Mark (Eric Dane) all stranded after the tragic event, which killed Lexie (Chyler Leigh), we’re a little worried about what might transpire on the ninth season finale.
Celebuzz caught up with Sara Ramirez (Callie) at the Los Angeles Confidential Annual Pre-Emmy Party Thursday at the London West Hollywood to find out what we can expect from next week’s season premiere.
“The first episode of the season is actually a flash forward by about two or three months. And then the second episode, we go back to what happened,” said Ramirez, 37. “So it’s kind of interesting. It’s definitely a roller coaster ride. It’s really intense, an intense journey. But I’ve got to tell you, everyone on the show’s doing this incredible acting. And I am just enjoying the ride.”
What else did the star have to say about the upcoming season?
The actress lamented the loss of Dane, who announced he was leaving the show this past summer and also commented on what’s in store for Callie.
She told us, “[Callie] also suffers other repercussions, even though she wasn’t on the plane.” Continuing, the actress told us, “she kind of bonds with Derek and it is related to his hand after the plane crash. And so they work together! And Callie hopefully gains some confidence in what she does and learns a lot from him.”
Ramirez also mentioned that the tragedies on the show in addition to real life situations, such as the loss of her best friend to cancer four years ago, has taught her what matters the most in life.
So what matters to her? “To just really enjoy what’s in front of you and if you’re not enjoying it, go somewhere else!”
Grey’s Anatomy returns Thursday, Sept. 27 at 9 PM on ABC.
