This time of year, we can count on things being quiet in the world of celebrity style. Starlets head to their hometowns, ski lodges and yachts and stay off red carpets, laying low before awards season. Luckily for us, Kim Kardashian has never been one to follow the rules. And today, she’s making headlines with her first high-fashion ad campaign for Balmain.

Snapped in the midst of a steamy embrace with her her equally fashion- and attention-loving husband, Kanye West, the star’s expertly contoured cheekbones and signature slicked-back strands are on full display in the brand’s spring/summer ads. (The two are good pals with Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing — she wore his minidress to her wedding reception
and Rousteing’s been excitedly Instagramming the ad, shot by Mario Sorrenti.)

And even casual Kardashian followers may recognize the dress she’s sporting as similar to the one modeled by her little sister, Kendall Jenner, in the line’s Paris fashion show this past fall.
Kardashian made no secret of her excitement to land this major campaign, tweeting it out with the caption “BALMAIN!!!!!!!!” But there is one catch: Kardashian and West are starring in Balmain’s menswear ads, which means that the focus is on West’s plunging tuxedo jacket — and his wide is serving as more of a sexy, high-fashion accessory.
