It’s that time of year where we’re bundled up to the point that only our eyes are visible — and celebrities jet off to tropical islands to avoid all that messy, inconvenient snow (or the mild 70° temps in L.A.). And while we’ve seen plenty of bold and sexy swimsuits on every starlet imaginable, it turns out it’s the stars over 40 who are really bringing the heat to the beach.

From left: Brooke Shields, 49, is ordinarily fairly buttoned-up when it comes to her wardrobe, but she proves that nothing gets between her and a cute bikini, showing off her fit and toned abs in a green bandeau two-piece while on vacation in Mexico. Heidi Klum, on the other hand, loves to show off her bod on the red carpet and on her yacht — and she proves that all those built-in workouts during her everyday life are paying off when it comes time for the 41-year-old to squeeze into that string bikini in St. Barth’s.

Also giving us major bikini body envy: Jada Pinkett Smith, 43, who is a fitness fiend (and it shows in this tie-dye two piece worn in Hawaii) and Salma Hayek, 48, who also displays a set of knockout curves on board a yacht in St. Barth’s. And finally, Christie Brinkley, 60, looks as ready for the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit issue now as she was in 1979, floating off the coast of Parrot Cay in a teeny bronze bikini. “I’m in Heaven!” she wrote on her Instagram.
