Short hair is definitely having a moment in Hollywood right now, but we weren’t expecting Nicole Kidman to chop off her signature chest-length strands. The actress just debuted a new, sleek do while promoting her film Queen of the Desert in Berlin.

The star lopped off some serious inches, now sporting a modern, asymmetrical cut that grazes her shoulders. Kidman usually likes to experiment with texture — from loose girls to sleek super-straight strands, but we haven’t seen her hair this short in a while.

Last year, Kidman, 47, told InStyle, that she has made an effort to embrace her natural curly hair — at least when she’s home with her family and not on the red carpet. “I almost never straighten it anymore,” she said. “It’s taken me 40-something years, but I embrace the curl. My littlest daughter has the same hair. She likes it when my hair is curly, so I wear it for her.”
