CHICAGO — Shane Victorino had a cold one on Wednesday, but he didn’t enjoy it.
The Philadelpia Phillies center fielder had a beer tossed on him by a bleacher bum as he caught a fly ball in the fifth inning Wednesday at Wrigley Field.
A fan was immediately ushered away after the incident, however security failed to apprehended the right beer bum. Both the Cubs and Victorino have since filed a complaint against the unruly fan, who is now being sought by Chicago Police using video from the scene of the crime.
Cubs chairman Crane Kenney apologized to Victorino during a meeting on Thursday.
“I said, ‘Listen, we’re sorry, it shouldn’t have happened here,'” Kenney said. “‘It’s not a good reflection on our city or our organization and we’re going to do whatever we can to make sure that things are made right here.’ And [Victorino] said, ‘Listen, I know you are and I appreciate your help.'”
