Today in “hot guys saying cute things,” we have Chris Evans, who talks all things Valentine’s Day, including his top gift ideas, why diamonds are always a good idea and the importance of heart-shaped candy.

Ranking high on his gift guide is fragrance. As the face of Gucci Guilty Diamond (remember this super sexy ad?), we trust him to know a thing or two about the power of scent, but his answer is very sweet.
“I think there’s a beautiful aspect about exchanging a fragrance because scents are synonymous with memories,” he explains. “If you’re walking down the street and you smell a scent, it can take you right back to a memorable time in your life, whether it’s a moment with an ex-girlfriend or a childhood event.” So why is it such a perfect present? “Years down the road, that fragrance will take them back to that time and place when you gave it to them.”
Another option that may just rival the power of scent? A heartfelt, homemade gift. “Whether it’s a drawing or a song or a poem. Something that’s from the heart that you manufactured yourself is the most personal thing you could give.” (OK, Chris, we’re waiting for our serenade).

And finally, his third gift idea is pretty high on our list already. “I think diamonds represent luxury, indulgence and class. So any time you can incorporate a gift that is synonymous with all those attributes, you know the other person will love it,” says Evans. “I would challenge someone to find something that better represents Valentine’s Day more than diamonds!”
While we’re not going to say no to some mega-carat rocks from Evans, he should probably throw in a box of heart-shaped candy to seal the deal. “I always remember on Valentine’s Day, exchanging candy with the kids in my class and typically it was always those little hearts with the messages on them,” he says. “When I think of Valentine’s Day, to this day I still think of these candies.”
