Penn State Altoona Mourns Cheerleader Nicole Chauvet’s Death

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Penn State Altoona is mourning the death of cheerleader Nicole Chauvet, who died Sunday in a car accident that injured four others.

Chauvet, 19, was in the back seat of a Honda Civic carrying four of her friends when the car turned left in front of an oncoming Jaguar, Logan Township Police Chief Ron Heller told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

All five students in the car were taken to Altoona Regional Medical Center, where Chauvet was later pronounced dead.

Chauvet was an education major at the small school.

“She was really a kid at heart,” a friend of Chauvet’s told the paper. “I think that was the best part about her. She never stopped. She was always so happy.”
