Kathleen Rose Perkins, star of Episodes and Gone Girl: I’m fortunate that I get to do a lot of traveling for work that I wouldn’t have the time or the money to afford otherwise. And travel to me means shopping. There’s nothing better than getting a really cool, locally made, can’t get anywhere else shoe or piece of clothing in any given destination I find myself. On one hand, it supports local artists and designers, and on the other more selfish hand, I get to feel special with a hard-to-get, no-one-else-is-wearing item.
L.A. is no exception to the rule. I found the sweetest boutique so close to my house that I could probably walk there (but this is L.A., so I, of course, drive!). It’s called Letters From L.A. in Eagle Rock and has a great eclectic stock from local designers. I got this gorgeous clutch, made by Samantha Grisdale who specializes in custom leather and jewelry. Her stuff has got an earthy vibe with a really sleek and simple yet unique perspective. Her stuff is so good she was recently mentioned in the New York Times!
So maybe she won’t be that local for very much longer. Better hurry and get her bags and belts while we still can afford them!
