Costume Designers Guild Awards 2015: See Which Stars Went Over-the-Top Glam on the Red Carpet!

We love a night that calls for over-the-top glam!

Emmy Rossum, Mindy Kaling, January Jones, and more celebs slayed the red carpet in the most glamorous looks at the 17th Costume Designers Guild Awards at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Rossum, 28, who hosted the ceremony, arrived rocking a pale pink Donna Karan Atelier dress with a crisscrossed bodice and sweeping train. She slicked her brunette tresses back into a sleek, low bun, and added diamond dangling earrings.

Rossum was a game host, telling Us Weekly just why she believes costumes are so important to her craft. “[Costumes determine] how a character moves, walks, talks, how deeply you breath if you’re corseted, or if you’re not. If your clothes are tight or not, if they’re old, if they’re scratchy—so many different things can evolve from a meeting with a costumer!” the Shameless actress explained.

Rossum added, “It’s really the artistry that goes into period costumes and even costumes you wouldn’t even necessarily think of that we’re here to celebrate tonight.”

Going in the complete opposite direction from Rossum, Kaling, 35, stunned by embracing bright, bold color. Her eye-popping dress, designed by The Mindy Project‘s costume designer and CDG President Salvador Perez, boasted not only a lovely jade green hue, but also gold embroidery on both the bodice and hem of the dress. She complemented the exotic look with an equally experimental braided hairstyle.

The night’s honoree of the Lacoste Spotlight Award, Naomi Watts, chose a delicate blush, tiered halter dress by Altuzarra, a look she accessorized with emerald Irene Neuwirth baubles. Joining her on the carpet was Oscar nominee Laura Dern, who embraced her sexy side in a red lace Naeem Khan dress with long sleeves and multiple high slits.

Jones, too, rocked red—via a crimson Roland Mouret jumpsuit with an asymmetrical collar and a peekaboo back, which she teamed with a matching poppy statement lip and girlish curls.

The Mad Men star’s onscreen daughter, Kiernan Shipka, was also in attendance, looking all grown up in a tulle Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress with emerald floral embroidery. An Edie Parker clutch, Brain Atwood peep-toes, and Jennifer Meyer jewels completed the ensemble.

Last, but not least, Michelle Monaghan graced the carpet in goth style, courtesy of a black lace dress with puffed sleeves and a tiered mermaid skirt.
