Always the night before the Oscars, the Independent Spirit Awards are admittedly a more casual affair, thanks, in part, to being hosted on the breezy Santa Monica Beach.

To complement the locale at the 2015 event, held on Feb. 21, the stars, including Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson, chose outfits that were just a bit understated, too—but no less gorgeous!

She starred in Birdman, and her style truly soared! Stone stunned in a navy blue lace dress by Monique Lhuillier, with a semi-sheer bodice and side cutouts. She paired the style with Christian Louboutin “So Kate” pumps, a M2Malletier clutch, and Repossi jewels.
Belle of the ball! The Cinderella actress, who snagged Best Actress in 2014, brought the rainbow to the red carpet in a Schiaparelli dress with gorgeous details, including a multi-hued leaf print. Brain Atwood’s “Marella” pumps in purple suede completed her ensemble.

Smokin’! Just five months after giving birth to baby Rose, the presenter of the Best Director award rocked her incredibly slim post-baby body in a plunging Bec & Bridge LBD (emphasis on the little), teamed with a gold clutch and dove-gray Pedro Garcia mules.
Everything’s coming up Emmy! The Shameless actress looked pretty as a flower in a posie-print Oscar de la Renta dress and Piaget baubles. Adding even more color, Rossum finished the look with pointed-toe magenta heels by Christian Louboutin. Plus, who can resist that bright Barbie pink statement lip?

So regal! The Castle actress brought bohemian flair to the carpet in a Chloe dress embroidered with a feather-like pattern. Keeping the focus on her bold dress, she accessorized the look with Jennifer Fisher cuff and black sandals.
