Oscars 2015: Patricia Arquette Is Wearing ‘Love’ (and Keeping All Her Oscars Style in the Family)

Patricia Arquette stepped onto the Oscars red carpet wearing an elegant black-and-white column with a built-in cape, but as it turns out, there was a little something extra stitched into Patricia Arquette’s Oscars gown: love.

The best supporting actress nominee stepped on to the red carpet Sunday wearing a one-shoulder black-and-white gown designed by her childhood BFF, just as the Boyhood star told PEOPLE she planned to do.

“Rosetta Getty, I love you,” Arquette told ABC’s On the Red Carpet Sunday. “You designed me this beautiful gown for tonight and I feel like I’m wearing love.”

“So happy,” she added while also speaking out about GiveLove.org, the charity she founded with Getty to help families displaced by the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

Arquette’s gown wasn’t the only fashion item to have sentimental meaning for an Arquette at the Oscars.

The nominee also pointed to her brother Richmond — who joined her on the red carpet, along with sister Rosanna Arquette and daughter Harlow — to say that he chose to wear their late father Lewis’s tuxedo to the awards show. But it wasn’t quite the seamless experience he expected (so to speak).

“My brother is wearing my dad’s tuxedo and our dad passed away. He was very funny. When [my brother] showed up his whole back of his parents split open — and that’s a good joke from our dad,” she said.

Richmond, meanwhile, didn’t seem to mind. “I found a seamstress,” he said with a shrug.

What do you think of her gown?
