Kate Winslet on Body Acceptance: ‘I’ve Got Boobs and a Bum and a Man Who Loves Me’

Kate Winslet might scare the pants off you as Jeanine in Insurgent (double-belt in the theater, just in case) but she’s doing quite the opposite on the cover of April’s InStyle. In fact, she’s continuing to open up about her happy marriage, the onset of wrinkles and why she’s loving the skin she’s in.

First of all, while she freely admits that actually being pregnant wasn’t always easy (“I filmed A Little Chaos during my first trimester. I literally had sick bags hidden under my skirts … I had boobs like a shelf — it was bonkers. I go soft and doughy quite quickly when I’m pregnant”), having a baby with husband Ned Rocknroll is a joy. “Ned is really the most fantastic, hands-on daddy,” she says. “He’s like a superman … I’m so lucky. I can’t believe how lucky I am actually.”

And being so happy in her personal and professional lives means she worries less about her looks. The wrinkles are here and they’re here to stay,” Winslet says about avoiding Botox. She also addresses the body scrutiny she’s faced her whole career, though an Oscar and continued critical acclaim seem to have squashed that problem.

“I still dip in and out of feeling confident as much as the next person, but I can genuinely say, now more than ever, that I really do love the fact that I’m curvy. I’ve got boobs and a bum and a man who loves me,” she says. “When you go through the sort of scrutiny that I have, you have to choose a means of dealing with that level of judgment. My way has always been to take a good look at how my career is going. The way I see it, I have an incredibly fulfilling, rewarding career that has nothing to do with the size of my arse.”
