There are many different motivations for posting swimsuit selfies to Instagram. Sometimes, the poster wants to show off their exotic travels. Other times, they’re looking to demonstrate how their body evolution is coming along. But let’s be honest, most of the time, they’re just looking for compliments from adoring fans. Which makes Hilary Duff‘s reasoning behind her recent (and rare) bikini selfie a particularly surprising one.
“Hey #moms #westillgotit ❤️ #loveyourbod,” she wrote encouragingly on her Sunday snap, which shows her in a fancy bathroom, with wet hair and no makeup, wearing a black scalloped two-piece. (Look familiar? It’s the same $295 Marysia number beloved by stars including Lupita Nyong’o and Rachel Bilson — and Duff has worn it before in her “Chasing the Sun” music video!)

And her fit figure is the result of hard work — she’s often snapped heading into a gym class, and says she tries to eat clean when she can. “I’m not a huge dieter, I try to eat healthy but don’t deprive myself of things that I want or crave,” she shares. “Lots of protein and veggies … Plus, I do Zumba.”
