Ladies and gentleman listen up: It’s time to treat yo’ self. On Monday, March 16, Dairy Queen is giving out free cones to celebrate its 75th anniversary and on March 20, Rita’s Italian Ice will follow suit.
Rita’s will dole out free ice cream treats this Friday, March 20 to celebrate the first day of spring. Last year, over 1 million cups of free Italian Ice were given out on this day of “ice, custard and happiness.”
Rita’s Italian Ice was started by a firefighter, Bob Tumolo, in 1984, who named the company after his wife, Rita. The company started as a small Italian ice stand on Tumolo’s front porch and has grown to over 600 stores. The first day of spring (FDOS) giveaway has been an annual tradition for the company since 1992.
Head to RitasIce.com to find your local Rita’s. Make sure to get to the store early if your favorite flavor is mango (it’s the chain’s most popular flavor!)
