Hilary Duff‘s Instagram is getting a workout this week. First she showed off her super-cut bikini bod as an inspirational message to all mothers, and now she’s bringing her brand new blue hue to the masses via a snapshot posted Wednesday.

“@Ambahhh turned me into a mermaid last night … love all u girls @riawnacapri @nikkilee901 @ninezeroone xx,” she wrote along with a photo (above) of her wearing an all-white ensemble in a chair at the Nine Zero One salon, allowing her newly dip-dyed do to be the standout color in her look. (Not that it really needed the extra boost — it’s pretty hard to miss.)

Duff told PEOPLE last year that she likes to experiment with makeup — and it looks like she’s now moved on to experimenting with her mane.
“I love that you can just take on a different role,” she shared of playing with beauty. “You can just put something on and all of a sudden you’ve morphed into something different. It brings out a tone in your personality and you get to play with that.”
