UCSD? No SDSU Aztecs Reach Sweet 16

UCSD? There’s actually a Bleacher Report headline writer who has their San Diego colleges all mixed up.

No, it’s not the UCSD Tritons heading to the NCAA’s Sweet 16. That distinction belongs to the cross-town San Diego State Aztecs.

Billy White had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead San Diego State to a 71-64 double-overtime victory over Temple in a third-round NCAA tournament thriller on Saturday.

The Aztecs, who were coming off their first NCAA Tournament win on Thursday, advanced to the West regional semifinals in Anaheim, Calif., where they’ll face the winner of Saturday night’s Cincinnati-Connecticut matchup.

With the win, SDSU improved to 34-2 as they kept their Cinderella season alive.
