LONDON – Novelist and former politician Jeffrey Archer is selling 5 million pounds ($8 million) worth of works from his extensive art collection.
The 150 pieces include a view of the River Seine by Claude Monet and an Andy Warhol portrait of Marilyn Monroe.
They go under the hammer at Christie’s in London on June 28.
The day before, Archer will act as auctioneer for a charity sale of personal mementoes including the stopwatch used when Roger Bannister ran the first sub-4-minute mile in 1954.
Archer is the author of thrillers including "Kane & Abel" and is a former British lawmaker.
In 2001 he was convicted of perjury and jailed for two years for lying during a successful libel action against a newspaper that claimed he had hired a prostitute.
