Bella Thorne may have hit up famed (or infamous?) desert music/fashion festival Coachella last weekend, but Wednesday night, she was all about swapping her boho chic for poolside prep to celebrate the launch of the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection in N.Y.C. But the horrors of some X-rated Coachella fashion attempts are still burned in her memory.

“I’ve witnessed a lot of freaky things at Coachella, but the scariest thing that I witness every time are the girls with the nipple tassels. I don’t get it. I’m not understanding why you’re just wearing bikini bottoms, nipple tassels, and thigh-highs. That is a very incomplete outfit,” the 17-year-old bombshell tells PEOPLE.

Fortunately, everyone at the Lilly event was fully attired, and the star, who modeled for the label as a child (and again this month!) was joined by fellow brand fans Kate Bosworth, Emmy Rossum, Ellie Kemper (now with bangs!) and Camila Alves for the launch event, all sporting shift dresses from the new collection in varying shades of pastel prints.
Emmy Rossum, 28, gravitates towards the label’s bright hues. “It’s fun and whimsical. I think so much of fashion is so tailored and serious and Lilly Pulitzer is famous for textiles. I love her pops of color,” the actress says.
But for model Camila Alves, 32, the collection for Target works because, “it’s just the right amount of Lilly. Because with bright colors and a lot of prints it could be done wrong. And they did it just right. You can dress it up, you can dress it down, you can have fun with it. Plus it’s so affordable,” she tells PEOPLE.
And for the trendsetting Thorne it’s all about the short shorts. “I really like the shorts. They have these little beads on them and they’re super cute.”
