HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Having already conquered the acting world, Scarlett Johansson will release her debut music album, “Anywhere I Lay My Head,” on May 20.

Johansson’s 11-song effort will include 10 interpretations, as opposed to straight covers of songs by Tom Waits, as well as one original track.

The album was announced Thursday by Atco Records, an imprint of Warner Music Group’s Rhino Entertainment.

The 23-year-old “Match Point” star spent five weeks recording the material last spring at Dockside Studios in Maurice, Louisiana. The album will be produced by David Sitek, best known as a member of the band TV on the Radio. He has also worked with bands such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars, Foals, and Celebration, and produced free jazz-influenced remixes of songs by artists such as Beck and Nine Inch Nails.

Yeah Yeah Yeah’s guitarist Nick Zinner is a contributor on the album.

Johansson’s singing abilities have been on display in the past. She sang “Brass in Pocket” by The Pretenders in the film “Lost in Translation.” She also performed on stage with Jesus and Mary Chain at the Coachella Music Festival last April.
