HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lisa Bonet is returning to the small screen.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the former “Cosby Show” star is joining the cast of the new ABC drama series “Life on Mars.”
“Life on Mars” is based on the BBC series created by Matthew Graham, Tony Jordan and Ashley Pharoah. The series revolves around Sam Tyler, a modern-day police detective who, after a car crash, mysteriously finds himself transported back to 1973 and still working as a detective.
Jason O’ Mara stars as Tyler, with additional cast members including Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli, Rachelle LeFevre, Colm Meaney, Stephanie Jacobsen, Patrick Wenk-Wolff and Gretchen Mol, who was added to the cast earlier this week.
The 40-year-old Bonet will portray Tyler’s present-day girlfriend, EW says.
It will be the first television series for Bonet since she last appeared on “Cosby” in 1991. The actress starred as Denise Huxtable, a character that also appeared on the spinoff series “A Different World.”
