HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Katharine McPhee has landed another movie role, signing on for the indie film “The Storyteller,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

McPhee, who was the runner-up on the fifth season of “American Idol” in 2006, will star alongside Wes Bentley and Anita Briem in the drama project, which is being directed by Robert Angelo Masciantonio.

Bentley will portray a writer whose life goes downhill following the death of his father. The spiral leads to his assistant (McPhee) “investigating whether his muse as well as narrator for his stories (Briem) is a figment of his imagination,” the Reporter says.

Shooting on the film is scheduled to begin in August.

The 24-year-old McPhee will soon appear in “The House Bunny,” a film starring Anna Faris and Emma Stone that is due in theaters on Aug. 22.

In February, McPhee married her 43-year-old beau Nick Cokas at a Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church. Fellow season five “Idol” contestant Kellie Pickler was a bridesmaid and guests included Rumer Willis, her “House Bunny” co-star.
