HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” showed plenty of bite over the weekend, taking the No. 1 spot at the box office.
The Disney comedy debuted with a $29 million weekend, easily outlasting the previous weekend’s No. 1, “Eagle Eye,” which fell slightly short of $18 million in sales.
“Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” finished third, with an opening weekend of $11 million.
Two other debuts did not fair as well — the David Zucker comedy “An American Carol,” which opened at No. 9, and “Religulous,” which finished tenth.
