HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Get ready to clean the pool, the folks at “Melrose Place” might be getting all wet again.
The CW Network is reportedly in talks to resurrect the cult-favorite ’90s show, network execs tell The Associated Press.
CW spokesperson Paul Hewitt tells AP that the network is currently exploring whether to put the new series into development in time for the 2009-10 TV season.
The announcement comes on the heels of the success of another CW spinoff, “90210,” which made its debut in September. “90210” has been a boost to the network, having improved the CW’s reach among women ages 18-to-34.
“Melrose Place,” which aired from 1992-99, was a spinoff of the original “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
Created by Darren Star, the original “Melrose Place” cast included the likes of Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Andrew Shue, Doug Savant, Vanessa A. Williams, Amy Locane and Daphne Zuniga. Several prominent stars joined the cast over the years, including Heather Locklear, Marcia Cross, Laura Leighton, Jack Wagner, Kristin Davis, Lisa Rinna and Alyssa Milano.
It has yet to be revealed whether any of the original “Melrose” stars would return in the new series.
