HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Emile Hirsch says the city of San Francisco plays an important role in his new film “Milk,” in which he stars alongside Sean Penn and Josh Brolin.
“You see a film where a city is such an integral part of it,” the 23-year-old actor explains of the movie, which tells the story of California’s first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk, a San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White.
“There’s a certain architecture to San Francisco which is really unique,” adds Hirsch.
