LOS ANGELES — With Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren allegedly undergoing intense marriage counseling at their Florida home, many are wondering whether the couple can survive the golfer’s rumored infidelity.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Woods, 33, and Nordegren, 29, are currently locked up in their Windemere mansion, where they are participating in several counseling sessions each day. A source also tells the paper that both Woods’ mother, Kultida Woods, and Nordegren’s mother, Barbro Holmberg, are providing additional support to help save their children’s marriage.

The PGA star’s mother is reportedly grateful that the couple’s two young children – Sam Alexis, 2, and Charlie Axel, born in February – are too young to realize the situation around them.

“This story will be ancient history by the time they are old enough to learn about it,” the source told the Sun-Times.

The insider also said it’s unlikely that Nordegren is leaving her husband anytime soon. She is reportedly negotiating an immediate $5 million payout from Woods, while also revising their prenuptial agreement. At the time of their 2004 wedding, that prenup was believed to be worth $20 million. Now, she’s allegedly seeking up to $55 million if she stays married to Woods for at least two more years.

Woods has been under the microscope ever since a single-car accident outside his home last Friday. The accident came two days after the National Enquirer published a story alleging that Woods was having an affair with a New York nightclub manager named Rachel Uchitel. Uchitel has since denied the affair publicly, but is reportedly seeking a buyout to remain silent on their relationship.

A second woman, Jaimee Grubbs, claims in the latest issue of Us Weekly that she had a 31-month affair with Woods. There is also a third alleged mistress, Las Vegas nightclub manager Kalika Moquin, but she too has denied tabloid reports of an affair with the golfer.

On Wednesday, Jesper Parnevik, the man responsible for introducing Woods to Nordegren, said he was less than thrilled with the affair rumors swirling around the world’s No. 1 golfer.

“I really feel sorry for Elin — since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him,” the Swedish golfer told the Golf Channel, adding, “We probably thought he was a better guy than he is.”
