Fox Searchlight, the studio behind this year’s top Oscar winner, “Slumdog Millionaire,” is reportedly interested in the film, currently titled, “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?”

Murphy has long admired the groundbreaking comedian, who died in December 2005 at the age of 65. In addition to his early stand-up day impersonations of Pryor, Murphy included the legendary comic in his first film, 1989’s “Harlem Nights.”

The 47-year-old Murphy, who next appears in the summer comedy, “Imagine That,” has a busy upcoming workload. His future projects include “The Nutty Professor III,” “Fantasy Island” and “Beverly Hills Cop IV.”
