NEW YORK — A New York City casting call for “America’s Next Top Model” turned into mayhem on Saturday when chaos broke out among hundreds of people waiting in line outside the Park Central hotel.

The stampede resulted in three people being arrested and at least six injuries, according to reports.

The incident began when a disabled BMW overheated and began to smoke, leading many to scream that a car was on fire.

Authorities said producers of the show failed to notify officials about the event, so there were very few police officers in the area at the time of the incident.

“If you’re going to have an event where there’s the remotest chance that the crowd is going to be bigger than you expect … call the precinct and make sure they know,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg told the New York Daily News.
